We love music at HVPC!
Blended Worship — 9:00 a.m.
Worship in our blended service is led by a praise band, under the leadership of Hannah Clark.
We sing hymns, psalms, contemporary praise songs, and choruses. While we play a variety of styles of music, we take great care that the lyrics of what we sing are focused on God (not ourselves) and true to the witness of scripture. Players in the praise band vary from week to week, but typically includes acoustic guitar, electric lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, piano and a variety of singers. The band is open, by audition, to all who are interested in helping lead the congregation in music.
Traditional Worship — 11:00 a.m.
Worship in our traditional service is led by our choir, under the direction of Hannah Clark, and our organ, played by Barbara Fesmire.
We love to sing hymns of various styles from throughout the history of the church. As with the music in our blended service, we are very careful to select hymns that are focused on God (not ourselves) and are true to the witness of scripture. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and welcomes anyone who loves to sing.
Special Services — various times
Special services in the Easter and Christmas seasons feature strings and brass, in addition to the choir, organ and praise band. Periodic prayer meetings feature a small ensemble.
